School Mission Statement

The School of International Studies encourages a collaborative culture that integrates the learning environment in the school with a larger global community. The school strives to create a better world through intercultural understanding. The school encompasses staff, faculty, students, families, colleges, universities and community and is committed to providing students with a high-quality, rigorous education in a personalized learning environment. The school encourages and empowers students to be active, lifelong learners who value other people. The school is uniquely structured to produce innovative, principled, culturally aware and insightful leaders. Having at its core both the International Baccalaureate curriculum and an involvement with the global community, the School of International Studies will graduate students who are well prepared for post-secondary education or to enter the workplace.

Please consult the student handbook located inside the student agenda for school schedules, policies and requirements.

Classroom rules

            Respect …

1)      yourself;

2)      each other;

3)      your teachers;

4)      your school

Seating Chart

The purpose of the seating chart is to aid the instructor in tracking each student’s on-task and off-task behaviors. The placement of each student is determined by the teacher and is to be adhered on a regular basis unless otherwise notified.

Notebooks and Agendas

The teacher will keep a record of important documents for each individual student in which parents, other teachers, and administrators will be able to view. However, it is the responsibility of the student to keep all of his/her assignments in an organized notebook for each course they are taking. The student agenda is a very important resource to be used daily in this course. This is where the student will keep record of all assignments due for each of their classes.

Texts

Students are responsible for checking out the appropriate texts for each of their courses from the San Diego High School library. I would advise writing your name in the front of the book and covering it in order to keep from any lost or damaged fees.

Grades

Categories: Class log 50 %, Class participation 50%

It is imperative that the student be in class every day.

Course Content and Expectations

IB Support is a course designed to allow students the opportunity to complete work for IB and other classes. Students are expected to bring assignments, materials, books, and other necessary classroom supplies to complete these assignments. Students will complete both tasks for the IB support class and their other classes during the period and each student should stay focused on academics while in IB support. IB Support follows the course standards for the various IB classes offered at International Studies. Students are expected to meet the standards of the classes in which they are enrolled.
