Elipses in Advanced Intermediate Algebra

 

Armed only with sidewalk chalk, string, and their trusted graphing calculators, Mrs. Jones' period 2A Advanced Intermediate Algebra students surrounded the IS Garden with monster ellipses.  Verifying his measurements, one student exclaimed "The Pythagorean Theorem! It really works!"
