SDHS Robotics Club
Team 2032
ÒBringing Robotics out of the
Stone AgeÓ
The
School of International Studies and the School of Science and Technology are
working together to form a Robotics Club. The club is preparing for two
types of upcoming robotics competitions. The first competition, in
December, will be a VEX robotics competition. The VEX robots are put
together using components that are assembled to collect softballs and put them
into two types of goals. The VEX robots must be able to fit into an 18
inch cube. The second competition, in March, will be a FIRST robotics
competition. The FIRST robot components and task will be available in
late January. Last year the task was to shoot basketballs into a goal.
The FIRST robots are about 1 meter square by 2 meters tall. The club
still needs members who would like to work on robot design and construction,
publicity and web design. The club is currently meeting after school on
Fridays in the Auto Shop. See Mr. Towler in Room 900 for more
information.
