Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents,

It is with both anticipation and sadness that I announce my retirement effective June 30, 2009.

Forty-two years ago, I taught my first high school English class in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I remember telling my friends that I would try to teach for three years. If after that time, I didn’t feel I made a difference in the lives of my students, I would find a different profession.  What I learned over time was that making a difference was a two-way street. I learned from my students, colleagues, and parents more than I taught them.  My own children call me a “workaholic” because I enjoy going to work every day. The past twenty years at San Diego High, first as a teacher and then as a principal, have been the highlight of my career.

I will miss you and the excitement and frustration of being the only administrator in a school of over 500 students. I feel confident that with the outstanding staff and dedicated students, the work we started will continue and flourish.

I am also pleased to announce that the district would like to involve the community of our school in the selection of the next principal. Dr. Tony Burks, Executive Director of the Office of Small School Innovation, has organized two meetings to get input from our school community about the principal selection. The meetings will be held in the library:

·         Tuesday, June 2, 6:00-7:30pm

·         Thursday, June 4, from 4:00-5:30pm

You are all invited to attend these meetings.

Sincerely,

Karen Wroblewski, Principal
