a good time to make sure that you are keeping up with all of your

Lanyards
All students at the
San Diego High Educational Complex are required to wear their school
lanyard and ID when on campus. Make
sure that you have returned your signed policy and that you remember to wear
your lanyard.
Jack O’Connell – State Director of Public Instruction at IS
On Thursday
2/4/10, Mr. Jack O’Connell, State Director of Public Instruction held a
press conference at The School of International Studies to announce the
progress that the State has made towards closing the achievement gap.

Congratulations
to Mrs. Jones of the Mathematics department who has been selected by the IS
staff as our 2010/2011 Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Jones will have the opportunity to compete for the District
Teacher of the Year honors.

National Honor Society
Students, don’t forget to join the
National Honor Society, it is a membership that you can list on your
college applications. You must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to
qualify. Bring a progress report with the GPA, plus $4 annual dues to
room 851 to join.
Jaime Enochs – 2009 Milken Educator Award Recipient
On Monday, 11/16/09,
at a school wide assembly, Jaime Enochs was awarded the Milken Family
Foundation Educator Award. Dubbed
“the Oscars of teaching” the award, which is not applied for, recognizes
outstanding educators.

Accreditation
Congratulations
to everyone involved in our WASC Accreditation. The School of International
Studies received a 6 year accreditation,
which is the most that can be granted.
All of our Parents, Students and Staff did a great job preparing our
Accreditation Report and working with the Accreditation visiting team. A special congratulations and thanks to Jaime Enochs who acted as our WASC
coordinator.

Newsweek Magazine – Top 100 High Schools for 2009
San Diego High, School of International Studies made
the top 100 list again this year. We
are ranked by Newsweek as #60 based on AP and IB exams taken and the number

Americas Best
High Schools 2010
Gold Award
San
Diego High – School of International Studies was selected by
U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best High Schools in America. Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals were
awarded based on preparing students for college. Gold and Silver Medals were awarded based
on AP and IB exam results.
